YAY!
It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!
It's not even Dec 1st yet and we've SO enjoyed all that this season has to bring. Seeing it through the eyes of a sweet little two year old full of awe and wonder is so very special. He understands so much more and is really in to everything-- the lights, the movies, the tree, the ornaments, the music, the hot cocoa, and all that Christmas has to offer!!
We started decorating the house the day after Thanksgiving. This is the first year we've had a home to decorate and a real tree to put up. Such a neat time. Definitely creating some sweet memories that we'll never forget! Daddy worked hard (with papa's help!) to put lights up on the house. Elijah gets excited EVERY time when we come home from somewhere and yells "Look! Lights on MY house!"
Such a blast putting up the lights and ornaments on the tree. Elijah has his favorites and relives it every time he gets up from bed/nap. He'll run to the tree and point out his favorites and tell us all about them.

Everything looks good together. It's pretty simple- but just perfect for us.

We're working on the story of Jesus being born in a stable.
Stockings are hung. LOVE them so much... they make me so happy.
And the four of them just fit perfectly under the windows.
Elijah knows that Santa brings him "toys in my stocking" and loves to point them all out and tell everyone which one belongs to each family member.
We went to the Holiday parade and had a blast with the sibs and Nana & Papa. Eli loved seeing all trucks, tractors, and lights. He even got a teddy bear and lots of candy! Luke slept part and was rudely awakened by the loud horns that scared him!

One of our new (and definitely) favorite family christmas traditions is watching Christmas movies while cuddling on the couch in our jammies enjoying some popcorn and E's new favorite drink of choice-- Hot Cocoa!!

The boys look mighty adorable in their new Christmas Jammies and we've got a few pairs to trade off and on for the rest of the month! We're gettin' in the spirit over here-- Christmas music is playing most of the time (by request of a sweet toddler). We get a kick out of turning on all the christmas lights around the house together. We've already watched a bunch of Christmas classic movies. We hope to go for a drive to look at Christmas lights some evening and also plan on visiting Santa and listening the the Polar Express read next week at Barnes and Nobel!!!
Most importantantly, we're working on teaching Elijah about who was born on Christmas day-- "Baby jE-sus" We are reading the christmas story of Baby Jesus' birth in the Bible, as well as my personal favorite childrens book about the true meaning of christmas- " God gave us Christmas".

He has all of his animal ornaments from Great Grandma and Papa on it and he loves it so much! :)
He's never done an advent calendar-- but we're going to see if he gets into it this year! I think he'll get the point of it soon. Mama grew up doing a similar one to this while growing up with my siblings... hoping my boys get into it just as much!
This one was also made by Great Grandma Hempel and is in his room right by his bed and the door.

I love their bond they've already developed. Elijah loves his baby brother and Luke smiles at Eli and soon enough will be playing right along with him. This was a candid shot of Eli kissing baby Luke.
(side note-- he's dropped the "g" from gook. It's a lot like "ooook" but its sounding more like L-uke each day!)
It's hard to get a picture with BOTH boys simling-- so I usually find my self focusing on getting E to just LOOK and possibly pray for a smile from him that I kind of lose focus on getting Lukey to smile as well. But, when it's just him in the picture-- I can get the BEST smiles. He is such a sweet, lovey boy. Lots of smiles and little giggles come out and make my day. Every. Single. Day!
This season is so special and we're truly enjoying all of these new traditions we're starting and memories we're creating with our boys. Can't wait for what the rest of December has to offer :-)
