And just like that my little guy turned one quarter of a year old today.
How did THAT happen?
My sweet baby boy is now 3 months old and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I LOVE watching him grow and change. He is honestly a complete joy. He's been a great baby from the get go. Aside from a little sickness and the continuing reflux/spitting up saga... he's a dream. He smiles at you just when you need it. He is talking so much and we have long wonderful conversations full of coos and smiles and nothingness. And it's perfect. In no time he'll be laughing right along with me. He is in the best mood in the morning. He is a morning person (and didn't get that from his mama). But I honestly adore his sweet smiles and watching his eyes light up when you go in to say "good morning". Waking him up is one of my favorite parts of my day. There is nothing better than walking in, looking down over his crib (with big brother Eli by my side), and we say "Good morning baby luke!" and we're greeted with the biggest wide mouth smiles ever... followed by endless little grins and coos and bright blue eyes just staring back at us in such excitement and wonder. SERIOUSLY. LOVE. IT.
Little Luke. Here's what you've been up to this month:
You got your first nasty cold. And to be honest, it's still lingering. It's been there on and off all month long. No fun! You get stuffy and can't breathe out of your nose well, sneeze a lot, and that cough. That cough just won't go away. The fevers have subsided, but that dang cough is just hanging around. Good thing it's not near as sad sounding as it was for a while... there's just nothing sadder than a pathetic sad cough coming from a 2 month old. Or a stuffy baby who can't breathe well trying to sleep or eat. Poor guy.
You're perfectly plump. Chunky and sweet. With some amazing little rolls in all the right places. Everyone says how BIG you are. And, they are mostly right. But in all reality, you still fit perfectly into most 0-3 and 3 month clothes. Right where you should be. But, You also wore your first 3-6 month shirt the other day too. You wear size 2 diapers and like to give us a good laugh when you blow out of them on occasion. You're weighing around 14.5 pounds right now. Like I said: perfect :-)
You love to eat. You gobble away and when drinking a bottle you take anywhere from 5-6 ounces usually. You still eat every 3 hours (and are pretty flexible when need be to make it 4 hours on occasion) during the day. You still have that nasty reflux and are one spitty baby. But at least it's not causing you as much discomfort (for the most part) and you're still a happy-go-lucky baby. :)
You love to sleep too. (and that makes mama happy!) You sleep in your crib now for all naps and bed time and you're doing great! You are still waking once a night-- but that time is getting later and later and can pretty much say you're sleeping through the night now. We hit a rough patch when you were in the thick of a nasty cold and couldn't breathe all too well and coughed and coughed through the night. But, I *think* we're at the end of that and you're sleeping better and better each night. The last few nights you've been making it till at least 5-6 am. And this. is. PERFECT! After that feeding you go right back to bed and sleep till around 9 am when you wake up all smiley and ready to go with your day. Still continuing with a short nap in the morning and a longer 2-4 hour nap in the afternoon. And you can't quite drop the evening nap yet-- but thats ok. If you've gotten your sleep and your milk-- you are one content little boy.
You are so alert. Your favorite places to hang out are the play mat and the swing. If you're not being held by anyone, that is. You have a serious love affair with the sun on your play mat that flashes colorful lights and plays pretty music. You LOVE it. You smile, coo, grin, kick your legs, and go seriously ga-ga over it. It's too adorable!! You haven't started reaching for your hanging toys yet-- but I have a feeling that will be coming in the next month. You see them and will track them when I move them in front of your eyes.. just haven't figured out the coordination to actually purposefully reach your arm out to get one. Soon enough, you'll be doing it, I know! You do NOT like your bumbo yet. I keep trying to put you in there and you just arch your back and neck back and only last a minute or two. You get quite grumpy when I make you. Your big brother liked it at this age.... so I'm not sure when you'll start to enjoy it. You tolerate tummy time, but not for long anymore. And only rarely do you roll over from tummy to back anymore- even though I know you can. I'm thinking you'll be rolling from back to belly sometime soon if you get the gumption. You prefer to lay on your back and look all around. You are so curious about the world around you and hold your head up and search all over. You like standing on your legs and you're so strong when we're holding you!
You cannot get enough of your hands. You stuff your fists in to your mouth as much as possible. Occasionally you'll just get a few fingers in and end up gagging yourself (which is SO Sad to watch!) You chew on them, suck on them, and play with them in your mouth. It's pretty cute and pretty hard to catch any pictures with you NOT putting your hands in your mouth ;-) And, You also seriously love that tongue. It's just so fun to stick out and play with. And you look pretty cute doing so! You still like your paci when you're fussy and for bed.
You and big brother both wore the same outfit at exactly 3 months.
My Big Guys:
Your brother loves you more and more each day. And we love watching your relationship grow. You are such a complete Joy, little man. You are Such a good baby and we adore you!!
Mama is pretty emotional because next week I'll be leaving you to go back to working again. I know you'll be in great hands-- Nana cannot wait to watch her two grandsons. But, it doesn't make the leaving you any easier. Thanks for being such a precious baby boy. Love you to the moon and back. xoxoxo
