22 Months

Our Sweet E.
Another month has flown by and we're inching closer to your 2nd Birthday. How is this happening? We're planning your 2nd birthday party with family at the end of next month. And before we know it you're actual birth day will be here and we'll have a 2 year old. Crazy!

The weather is starting to finally get nice around here and you're loving every minute of being outside as much as possible. You love our walks and bike rides by the river. You're so happy and content when outside. You are starting to really explore the world around you and it's amazing. Daddy has been teaching you a lot about the grass, trees, birds, squirrels, the river, and anything else we come upon during our adventures. You love when we meet dogs while on our walks and run up to all of them and give them a pat or a hug.
You're still a little munchkin. We went shopping to get your some nice weather/summer clothes and found out that most of the 18-24 month size shorts are too big for you! We got some shorts in 12-18 months. All your shirts are anywhere from 18-24 months sizes though. You still wear size 4 diapers and I'm pretty sure you'll be in them for a while with your tiny little waist (definitely got that from your Daddy). You are learning to help get dressed and undressed. With assistance you can take off your socks and sometimes your shoes. You help pull your pants down and try to get your shirts off on your own. You run to get your shoes and you pretty much demand a hat and beg for your sunglasses every time we mention going outside (we've taught you well!!)
You sure are a picky eater. You used to eat anything and everything but being a toddler means you had to change that up! Somedays you barely eat anything. (although nothing can stop you from your beloved ice cream!) You're picky with what you want and don't want and let us know either way for sure. All 4 of your canines are cut through and are starting to show. I'm slightly dreading the 2 year molars that I'm sure will decide to cut soon.
You are really working on your vocabulary. You're still a little behind but it's amazing what you are starting to pick up and try to say. You will occasionally try to repeat words back to us when we work with you. Your favorite word is blue- you say everything is blue. Funny, because we discovered this month you actually know your colors!! We couldn't be more proud when you starting being able to identify all the different colors we were asking you to pick out! It's awesome and makes reading books even more fun. You'll point out all sorts of objects and colors we test you on! You LOVE reading books (unfortunately for mama and dada it's often the same couple books!).
You can be SUCH a lover. Your new favorite thing is to give hugs. You give the best hugs to Daddy- with your arms wrapped around his neck. Mama will get a really good one every once in a while. You even hug baby Luke. It is such a sweet sight when you lay your head on mama's belly and hug your little brother. You hug your dogs and you hug your baby doll. When you stop moving for long enough, you'll even hug or kiss your girl friends Libby and Evyr.
Your new favorite activity other than being outside is watching Baseball with your Dada. And- You couldn't make your dad prouder by this! You beg for it some nights asking for "a dall dall" (baseball). We enjoy the evenings watching the Rockies games as a little family. Daddy loves teaching you about the game of baseball and all it involves.
You still take amazing naps- typically 3 to 4 hours! But, you've decided you're a morning person like your Dada! bummer! Mama doesn't like anything before 8, but you choose 7 as your new wake up time. So we're up and at 'em early most days now. We're thankful for nap time each day though!!! :)

You are such a delight, Eli. Every month I start writing these posts not sure exactly what I'll say and wondering if there is that much new to talk about. But, guess what?? There is! You're such a fun kid, super cute, and always changing! You're learning so much and growing up so fast! I'm sure there will be many more things to talk about next month. :-)

Here are a few photos from our weekend spent walking and riding our bikes by the river. What a great time we had enjoying God's Beautiful creation!

Here's to another month, little man!
We LOVE you!
