We made it 19 months...

Well, E, We made it 19 months. 19 months with having a wild boy before having to take you to the ER. Yep, today we had to take you to your first ER visit. You'd been sick all week with Croup but we were off the ER for a completely unrelated reason. You were finally more like yourself playing and running around. Next thing I know, you'd fallen off the couch and happen to smack your forehead right on the corner of your wooden box toy. I saw it happen and expected tears, but when you lifted your head with blood streaming down, I was not ready that! You were scared and kept touching it, making the blood worse. Your crying, screams and blood shook mama up but she knew it called for a trip to the ER. Thank goodness daddy could come with, and as soon as we called him and told him about your gnarly cut, he came right home. You were so happy to see daddy. So, off we went. As we were getting in the car I overheard your daddy tell you, "It's ok Eli, you're going to have a really cool scar" We were only there about 2 hours but you did NOT like it one bit. You cried and cried and hated being held down. Lucky for you (and us) the slice to your forehead was perfectly shaped so the edges came together and you didn't even need stitches. Just glue! So we held you down and glued it together. You'll have a sweet scar on your cute little face. It was an exciting day and thus marked your first trip to the ER. I suspect there are many more in our future. Because even tonight, you were caught almost falling multiple times, bumping your head on the corner of the table, and standing in the bathtub- just another gash in the head waiting to happen. You got a cool cup full of apple juice (the nurse spoiled you- since you're not used to juice) and a cute little T-shirt. What a day! Let's not do it again for a while... K? :-)

This picture doesn't do itself justice. At this point most the bleeding had stopped and the cut doesn't look too terribly bad. But I was pretty sure it needed stitches or glue to hold it together.

You were not happy being there and you cried a lot.
The sweet nurse knew just the way to make you happy- JUICE!

The numbing medicine in place for 20 minutes.
You enjoyed an entire cup of juice. Sucked it right down!

You were happy daddy was there too.

The series of pics to capture the gash.
You now have a purple circle (from the glue) around a line from the gash on your head.
Pretty cool, right? Many people said it was a lot like Harry Potter's cool forehead scar.
Just wait till we put your glasses on you... :-)

At home, wearing your t-shirt, and still enjoying your juice.

The shirt the ER gave you--
"All the kings horses and all the kings men..
couldn't put me together again.
But, Community did"
Community Hospital.
