Let me just say, Parenting is the hardest blessing ever. I'm completely happy being a mama and want nothing more. But, that doesn't mean it's all easy. Elijah is a joy to us day in and day out and always will be. Lately, he has started a very difficult stage of whining, fussing, and tantrums. He was doing this before, but for some reason, it has increased substantially. Patience, contentment, and a happy heart are not easy to have. We have always wanted to raise our kid(s) using morals and lessons the Lord has taught us. This week, we started teaching Elijah to have a happy heart. We want to teach him about the lessons God has for little boys like himself. So, when instructing him or disciplining him we want to remember to not only reprimand but use the opportunity to teach and share with him about God. We are using a book called "God's Wisdom for Little Boys". More than ever, this book seems appropriate to start with Eli, even at this young age. 
So, we involved Elijah and used the opportunity to write on our white board the lesson for the week. The lesson that has probably touched his mama more than it has Elijah. Teaching a 19 month old to be cheerful and have a happy heart is harder than one would think. But, we're standing firm and we know that sticking with it will help Elijah grow up to be a well behaved, God fearing young man. But, it also is teaching his mama about patience and having a cheerful heart- in all circumstances. What better way to teach my little man than to show him by example? Yes, feeling very convicted this morning, I wanted to share our lesson for the week. I pray that God will use this time in our lives to shape my heart as well as our son's. We pray that we can raise Elijah to follow God's commands and wisdom that he gives to us. There is always going to be difficult days with parenting. Some day down the road it will be for different and maybe bigger reasons, but right now, its centered around tantrums and endless whining.
Elijah loves these markers. He plays with them, organizes them, and likes to color with them when we're helping him. What a perfect way to get him involved. And- maybe he'll learn his colors through all of this!

We are so blessed to be Mama and Dada to both Elijah and baby G2 in mama's belly. We rejoice through the good days and the hard days. May we always remember to be cheerful- "A Happy Heart s like good medicine" Prov. 17:22.
