....

I've been in a bit of a writing funk lately, so just wanted to give everyone a little update on what's up with the little Gerst. Elijah is changing everyday, he's mastered standing up on his own and is now "cruising" along the couch taking a few steps. I'm working with him relentlessly to get him to say "mama". I keep saying- "Elijah, saying mama would make the best 1st Mother's Day gift EVER!" He says a lot of "ya, ga, ba, da, la" Just hoping to get the MMMA out :) His well child check with the pediatrician went great. He's a growing boy that's for sure. His stats were: 28.5 inches, 19 pounds 9 oz. He's still kinda little, but healthy! His height and weight were both 20-30% on the charts. It's amazing how much I feed this kid and he doesn't weigh more! Speaking of eating... I feel like he's eating ALL the time.  I'm feeding him his 3 full meals, nursing him 4 times a day, and he gets at least 2 or 3 small snacks during the day. He's starting to get more and more "table food" and less pureed "baby" food! He's doing fabulous trying new things. He's tried black beans, blueberries, strawberries, and cut up chicken. Tonight- he had a REAL meal-Consisting of no spoon fed food! Grilled chicken, black beans, blueberries, and gold fish. Can't get better than that :) He still definitely gets his pureed baby food- lots of veggies and fruit as well as lentils and pureed turkey. We're working on getting him to figure out how to do his sippy cup by himself, he's getting better! He loves his bath time every night, it's actually hard to make him get out sometimes... he's just so joyful in there! He's enjoyed video chatting with both sets of grandparents while in the tub- so they can see his most talkative and happy self at that time :~) E has a new fascination in Opening and closing things- especially books and bedroom doors. He definitely knows the word "no" and is starting to listen better, but he's also getting really good at temper tantrums. YIKES! Have a good week... Looking forward to my first Mother's Day this Sunday :)

Waiting for the doctor...

Happy Bath Boy!

Serious face, but love his HERO firetruck shirt for Uncle Jakey's Birthday! :)

Sporting some new shades-- he's getting a LITTLE better at wearing them.

Doin' great eating big boy food- this is tonight's grilled chicken!
