Christmas 2014

Wow! We had a wonderful Christmas jam-packed with all sorts of events and memory making throughout the month. The magic of Christmas is just amazing when you have kids. I read somewhere that the only thing better than being a kid at Christmas... is having kids at Christmas. And it explains precisely how I feel. I love seeing their excitement and wonder. And we love all the memories we're making and traditions we're starting with our 3 Amigos.

*We saw Santa (a couple times actually!) ;-) and Elijah asked for Planes: Fire and Rescue every.single.time. Luke never would really say what he wanted, and he never wanted to sit on his lap. But, give the kid a candy cane and he'd happily wave to the jolly ol' man saying "merry christmas santa!" Baby Ike  wasn't sure what to think of him and just kept looking at him and touching his beard! We're on a roll for 4 years of kids with Santa and so far... No tears!!
*We rode on the North Pole Adventure Train. Magical, fun, So exciting! Luke was excited for the Choo Choo and Elijah was so ready to see Santa and have hot cocoa and cookies. We sang so many carols and loved the tradition we've started with the whole Haan Family.
*We baked goodies and the boys decorated Christmas cookies. It was messy, but fun! And
*We drove around in our Christmas jammies looking at Christmas lights and singing Christmas carols. Love this special time with the boys watching them get excited over all the bright lights. Eli is really getting into singing songs and knows the words to so many carols!
*We watched Christmas movies. The boys enjoyed watching the Polar Express for the first time. A sweet night at home with my favorite boys, all snuggled up in our jammies on the couch! We'll definitely continue this next year!
*We read Christmas stories and listened to endless hours of Christmas music.
*We enjoyed counting down the days. The  boys enjoyed doing their advent calendar which was in their room. Every morning they would take turns picking something out and putting it on the calendar. Eli's excitement grew as the days went by.
*We attended Elijah's preschool Christmas program. Such a delight to watch our biggest boy singing loudly (I asked him to sing so Mama could hear... and he did!) He danced away- confident- smiling- and loving his special program. He's grown and matured so very much. It's a joy to watch him come out of his shell more, talk more, and have more confidence at school. Watching the program was a perfect example of how he's excelling!
*We made Gingerbread houses with the Gerstner fam. Lots of sugar and some breakdowns later, we all loved time spent together!
*We talked about the birth of Baby Jesus and how he is the very reason we celebrate the season. The boys played with and still love their special Kids nativity from their Great Grandpa Haan and Luke was learning all about baby Jesus in the stable. We loved singing Christmas songs at Church and looked forward to the very special Christmas Eve candle light service.
*We spent Christmas Eve with the Haan family at church, dinner, and present opening hosted by Aunt Connie.
*We celebrated Christmas Day at Nana & Papa's opening more presents, watching movies, napping, relaxing, and playing.
*We reflected on how much has changed, how our family has grown (literally by one more kid!), and how incredibly blessed we are. We are so thankful for the gift of our SAVIOR.
