Sweet E- 2.5 years

Mr Eli-

We love you so much! You have grown up so very, very much. You are a sweet and silly young boy. You are such a delight. You have such a sparkly/spunky personality. You keep us on our toes and give us so much laughter and joy. I can't believe you're already two and a half.

You are quite a "silly goose" (One of your favorite phrases). And, apparently your Mama and Dada are just "big babboons". You giggle and laugh and have such a great smile. Your eyes are a perfectly gorgeous blue/lavender. Your hair grows pretty fast, but you've learned to like haircuts and love when Mama styles your hair (much to your dada's disappointment). I swear your eye lashes keep getting longer. You are still tall and skinny and seriously keep looking more and more like your Dada-- which I love. You're talking more and more-- which we all love-- but also starting to copy everything! (even the not so good words/phrases)

Some quick facts about you at this age:
*You wear mostly size 2T clothing. Some 24 month and some 3T.
*You wear size 4 daipers.
*You are getting glasses again- we'll see how that goes!
*You have many many words, ask questions, and make people laugh with your silly phrases.
*You still suck your thumb-- we're starting to get you to stop-- but its definitely a comfort thing for you and you always do it.
*You still are in your crib-- BUT-- you're getting big boy bedding for Christmas and we'll be making the switch soon!
*You still have no real interest in potty training, and thats fine. We're not pushing it yet but you like to sit on the potty for fun sometimes.
*You are fiesty, stubborn, and full of spunk. Good and bad. :)
*You LOVE your sleep. You sleep 11-12 hours every night and definitely still need your naps which are 3-4 hours. You are definitely a schedule boy, but have gotten more flexible lately!
*You are CRANKY when you are hungry or over-tired. And there is no reasoning with you.
*You love to put your hands in your pockets. And it's seriously the cutest thing.
*You love to go outside and explore and go on walks.
*You have the highest pitch squeal -- both happy and mad squeal.
*You love your Dada more than anyone I think. He's your best buddy.
*You love to sit on Opa's lap and have him read you stories or sing to you.
*You love reading books and being silly with Papa.
*You love baking "coooookies" with Oma.
*You love your Nana and are spoiled by getting to have her full attention 3 days a week while Mama is at work.
*You give good smooches and squeezes around the neck.
*You still love music and dancing.
*You love watching "boo dees" (movies).
*You are obsessed with any cars or trucks and can lay on the ground playing and lining them up for hours.
*You enjoy church more now, but mostly just the singing and nursery. You're learning about Jesus and when we ask you who made you, you correctly respond "God." You bow your head and hold our hands and enjoy talking to Jesus while we pray. You won't say it on your own, but you like to copy our prayer.
*You are really good at stalling for bedtime. And because of this, have successfully moved your bedtime to more like 9 instead of 8 :-)
*You describe people as "my _____" Such as, "that my dada!" "that my Nana" "that my baby luke"
*You ask questions but haven't started the "why" questions-- which is ok with me! Ha!
*You are learning about having a happy heart and obeying. It's hard sometimes, but we're trying to teach you to be obeidient and a good little boy.
*You are working on sharing. Sharing is tough at this age, but you get lots of practice with your cousin Nathan, and soon Luke will be old enough to play more with you and your toys so you'll get even more practice! :)
*You know all your colors pretty much, working on numbers (can count to 3) but still are learning your ABC's! But, you can pick out "E"  almost all the time!
*You repeat phrases over and over and over again until we acknowledge you or what you're talking about. This can be frustrating and annoying at times, but you're persistant!!
*You love your baby brother. You kiss him and try to play with him by bringing him toys. You are always so excited when he wakes up or you hear him talking from his crib. You ask for him when you wake up and always insist that "baby luke hun-ry" when he's fussing. (which is usually right!)
*You still don't like your picture taken and will usually try to fight it. BUT- you've gotten Much better. And, we've gotten better on enticing you with treats to get you to cooperate!! We even get some smiles out of you every once and while. And the other day, you asked to be in a picture for the first time! Ha!!
*Mama cried for the first time by the way people talked about albinism. But, we couldn't be more happy to have you JUST the way you are. And will continue to teach you to love the way God made you and be proud of yourself for being special! You know you have "blue eyes" and "white" hair and you are just perfectly adorable.
*We LOVE you. Completely enjoy you. You're so much fun and so very, very smart. We're co blessed to have a sweet little boy like you!

Your beautiful eyes:
Your vision is better than ever. We have lots of appointments to keep us busy between doctors and specialists and such. You are doing so well and comensate for any vision loss you do have. We met with a new Pediatric Ophthalmologist and he did a quick exam and suggested trying glasses again, so we'll expecting those after the new year! You work closely with a specialist to track your overall development. We are going to get your hearing tested to make sure it's not impacting your speech-- and then we'll go forward with getting a speech therapy eval. Not because of your lack of words or talking, but to help with the annunciation of your speech. You also see a specialist from the School for Deaf and Blind once a month to work on vision skills and more thorough testing. She put you at the 20/250 range for vision. But, if you're straining and work hard, she suggested you could be as good as 20/150 or 20/200. You love your sunglasses and wear them perfectly when outside!

We adore you sweet boy. Thanks for making us laugh. We thank God for you. You're busy and crazy and fiesty at times, but we love it! Thanks for being YOU.

Love you to the moon and back. xoxo
